The other day, as I despaired over my video-obsessed freshmen--one came to me to show me a copy of Lucretius' "on the Nature of the Universe". I'd mentioned it in class, and she'd gone out and bought it, and wanted to talk about it. The reward was right there. The feeling was that of a nugget of gold simply materializing in my hand!
